KATIE HILL FOR CONGRESS

Katie Hill for Congress - CA-27 - 2018

The Challenge:

Katie was a queer progressive candidate running in CA-27, a highly competitive district north of LA. She didn’t have any political experience or name recognition, so she wanted a commercial that introduced her to voters in a clear and compelling way.

My Thinking:

I served as a volunteer on Katie’s campaign and helped punch up the text of this script, as well as added some visual elements. I included touches of her dry humor, a cleaner opening and suggested filling the space with her actual staffers and the volunteers. The result was a fantastic spot that helped raise over $7 million and propelled her to a historic win in 2017.

A note: Katie was involved in a scandal and resigned from Congress in 2019. But I’m still proud we won, proud of this commercial, and proud of her.
